Designed for artists of all experience levels, this class blends foundational painting skills with creative exploration as you develop your own large-format abstract landscape on canvas. The workshop begins by building a strong foundation before transitioning into a personal painting project that evolves over the remaining weeks. What You'll Explore Week 1 | Color Theory & Color Mixing Learn the fundamentals of color theory, including mixing harmonious palettes, creating depth and atmosphere, understanding warm and cool colors, and using color intentionally to evoke mood and emotion. Week 2 | Principles of Abstraction Discover how to simplify and interpret the landscape through composition, shape, value, mark making, layering, texture, and expressive brushwork. Explore techniques that move beyond realism while maintaining a strong sense of place. Weeks 3–6 | Create Your Own Abstract Landscape Put your new skills into practice as you design and paint your own large-format abstract landscape on canvas. Each week includes individualized instruction, demonstrations, and plenty of studio time to refine your composition, build layers, and develop a finished painting that reflects your personal style.
